Gabrielle Douglas was born on December 31, 1995, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Gabby Douglas started proper gymnastics training at six years old and won a state title when she was 8 years old. She relocated far away from her neighborhood and family in 2010 to go after training with a world-renowned Olympic trainer, and was chosen to be competitive with the U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Gabrielle Douglas is an associate of the 2012 US Olympic gymnastics team -- a team that won the Olympic gold medal for the first time since 1996. Douglas also won gold in the all-around, growing to be the first gymnast in American history to win the gold medal in both the team and all-around.
Douglas names flooring and grin as her preferred occasions, and passes by the nicknames Gabby and Brie. She is home-trained, and her preferred subject is English.
